Yeah that is annoying. Last time I pugged FoW we pretty much cleared with only 5 people, 1 dropped, 1 went for dinner, and the other guy QQ because he didn't get rezzed straight away, so he logged.

Ahh, the good old days. No seriously, I actually liked that about Factions... I actually did like Factions. Didn't appreciate Nightfall so much since by that time it seemed like the content is just repeating itself in a different form. Nothing new, except for henchies with customizable skillbars which ultimately ruined the grouping aspect of the game enitrely. I guess people pug in Hard Mode.
P.S. did you know WoW has Heroic (hard) Mode first? I think anet is starting to lose originality. And the fact Gaile Gray thinks we're the only ones who says the word "nerf" is almost embarrasing.

I PUG all the time. Heroes have lessoned the social aspects of the game, and thinned out the selection of what sorts of players and characters I can PUG with, but they haven't killed it.
I enjoy PUGing, even though the Hero AI is superior to the average player in terms of skill. For some classes that includes me, so this is not just another 'pretentious I'm better than all you clods' claim.
I do my quests solo with Heroes, but I PUG missions, or try to. Only two missions in the last two or three weeks that I've solo'd - both by choice. One because I wanted to cap Zealous Benediction and didn't want anyone complaining about me focusing on that over the goals, the second was last night, Moddok Crevice, and was the first time the only other person looking for groups in a mission was charging people 2k to get into his group - and so I just chose to be anti-social.

Heroes to get stuff done with one or two reliable players (who also bring heros), Pugs to see how funny people can be. Even though it's an online game I like having the option to be self-reliant to do stuff instead of waiting half an hr or more for some snob healer.
You kind of lose the sense of you being there when the cutscenes only show the party leader talking and you're in a sea of 7 other people saying stuff like HEAL ME, Attack the healer! I am attacking ____ (Repeatedly) Hay wut is ur build (so I kan steal it!!)

Um..MB hun?
THAT was an attempted alliance get-to-know you run we did about a month ago?
E P I C fail!!!(Except the fact I got 6 shards, and a perfect grinning recurve)
But, we did complete it...
*gets herself back on topic*
PUGS are an excellent source of honing, and challenging your skills.
Not highly recommended as a social meeting tool, but very good for some off the wall fun, and if you fail...just solo when they rage quit.

New players with little experience and few resources PUG. Experienced players H/H 99% of the time, occasionally grouping with others for dungeons or the more challenging missions.
So yeah, GW is mostly a solo RPG nowadays.

But MB..it's a learning tool for those that I team with!
You can't imagine how many times I have assisted 'new' players thru this area, always asking them before we go: "You are infused....right?"
Only to have them 1 hit killed when the first Murssat shows up....><
I will continue to help the new players....but it is getting frustrating.

I still PuG on occasion, particularly in GWEN dungeons which are tons of fun.
BTW, as painful as it is to see your PuG-mates ping those terrible builds, they really don't matter much in normal mode PvE if your team has proper aggro management. You can win with the crappiest builds imaginable in normal mode PvE if your aggro management is proper.
Factors for success in a PuGs in normal mode PvE, in descending order of importance:
1. Aggo management
2. Leadership
3. Strategy
.
.
.
.
.
.
.
.
.
.
.
.
.
.
127. Builds
128. Everything else
So hating on PuGs because of their crappy builds is really pointless. Sure, you can give some (non-elitist) friendly advice/suggestions/tips here and there for how they can improve their builds, but what makes a crappy PuG truly crappy is poor aggro management, not their builds.
For this reason, PuGs which you start and lead usually fare better than random PuGs that invite you, because as the leader you should have more control over dictating aggro and strategy.

Why PUG when I can go with h/h who are more intelligent and mature than average PUGger?
Tho' I often see people "lfg blahblah", standing there, looking for people because they want to do a mision with bonus. I complete the mission + bonus and they are still there with "lfg"...
Poor creatures.

Almost my point exactly.
But:
I don't kick players from my team for 'crappy' builds. because quite honestly..there are no crappy builds in NM.
And MOST of my builds are a bit unusual to say the least.
All I ask is that when you team with complete strangers is: Don't be an ass. If you are asked a question from the leader of the team...just answer honestly.
(Most of us leading a PUG team aren't trying to amuse ourselves with your discomfort or possible embarassment of feeling 'n00bish'.)
If you don't know what a certain term like 'infused' means...speak up please.
Believe me, you can pick and choose what team you will join, it is a game of fun...not a job.
So, to kinda wrap it all up until I feel like harassing MB again...I say this:
PUGS are kinda fun..it's the trolls and lvl 2-8 ran nubs that ruin it for the rest.

So this pretty much supports the fact Anet turned GW into a single player/co-op RPG.

Which is better than half of the PVE community anyway. "I have a load of fire spells and no res!"
"Great. Now unless you can SOLO this mission..."

And you can play with your friends anytime you want. I have no problem with that.
The only solution would be to remove stupid people from the game but that's hardly possible.
